Special Events
Many fun events take place throughout the year. Assistance needed might include stage/event set-up and breakdown, parking, tabling, etc.

Farmers' Market Committee
This Committee meets monthly and is comprised of EC staff & Board members, market volunteers and other interested community members. The Committee reviews applications from farmers requesting entrance to the markets, and addresses other general business and market policy issues.

INTERNSHIP AVAILABLE:
SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE RESEARCH, OUTREACH AND EDUCATION

Help to bring more education and the tools for action to consumers at the Berkeley Farmers' Markets. Gather info/conduct research on current issues (genetic engineering, threats to organic standards, and other relevant topics). Create postcards, fact sheets and educational displays, and coordinate tabling at the markets.

Editorial internships available!
Terrain, an award-winning environmental quarterly, offers four internships a year, each lasting two months. Extensions can be arranged. Follow the above link for more information.

Research Assistance
For those with good phone and internet research skills, this is an opportunity to make a contribution to alternative journalism. Help to fact-check, fill in story gaps, track down sources, and generally support the editorial staff. Help foster eco-literacy, political awareness and fill the chasm left by mainstream publications.

Reporting and Writing
Terrain periodically posts a selection of story ideas for journalists with varying levels of experience.

Art & Photography
Woodblock, other prints. Nature shots. Assignments available, portfolios welcome.

Administrative
Clerical tasks related to editing, distribution, promotion, advertising. Mac computer skills always desired: Quark, Photoshop, Filemaker Pro. Transcription of interviews also needed ~ requires good word processing and comprehension skills.

Cashiering, inventory, shipping and receiving, designing displays, tabling. Depending on the level of training required, a minimum time commitment may be requested.

Outreach
Participate in a campaign to increase recycling rates in Berkeley. Volunteers will go door-to-door in low participation neighborhoods providing information and assistance to encourage recycling.

Education
Help assemble flyers and brochures. Assist with development of a reference manual for use on the recycling information and referral hotline.

Plastics Task Force
Fact checking needed concerning producer responsibility, reusable bags, and reusable bottles. Final information will be part of a resolution by the Task Force.
