Work-Study: Information Program Assistant
NOTE: This position is only available to students who have financial aid work-study available to them. The student is paid by their college or in conjunction with their college. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE NOT A STUDENT WITH A WORK-STUDY AWARD.
Summary of Responsibilities:
This position assists the Information Services Program Manager and other Information Program staff with various tasks and projects in the Environmental Resource Center. The Information Program Assistant is a part-time, hourly position. Currently, the job is a 10-20 hour per week position with preferred work hours scheduled between Tuesday - Saturday, 11am - 6pm.
Primary Responsibilities of the Information Services Program Assistant include:
- Maintaining information in our databases, and assistance in keeping the Eco-Directory accurate and comprehensive. Research topics.
- Working with the Information Coordinator to produce the EcoCalendar
- Library maintenance, including accessioning of books, checkout, past due calls, and inventory
- Keeping printed materials and displays in the Resource Center stocked and neatly organized. Fact sheets, brochures, zines. Straightening lobby and Center.
- Occasional tabling at events, and help hosting events and classes
- Occasional preparation of event flyers and assistance with publicity
- Providing other assistance to the Information Program Manager and staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
- Accuracy and carefulness with the quality of one’s work, particularly with regard to data entry
- Interest in environmental issues and interest in social justice and social change work
- Ability to work in a lively group atmosphere and contribute to the creation of a positive community space
- Experience working with the public and a friendly approach
- Punctual and on-time for work shifts. Dependable.
